SMS-Executive-Service-crashes in SMP server – SCCM 2012 Environment

This post will explain you about how to resolve if SMS-Executive-Service keeps crashing in State Migration Point server in SCCM 2012.

Issue :

Recently we had an issue in SMP server that SMS-Executive-Service keeps crashing even if we start the service manually.

Normally SMP creates 2 folders. One for the data folder (USMT information ) and one for the Migration Status folder as like below. The above folders should be same count of directories

\USMT\SMPSTOREe_0257E7A4$ – Data information

USMT\SMPSTOREe_0257E7A4$\MigrationStatus – Migration Status info.

In my environment, the count was different

index size for the data directory array: 129 / index size of the Migration Status directory: 152

After reading the below article, I found that Since the issue is with count different.I deleted one extra directory(151) under Migration Status folder .After some time during SMP health check , it cleanup all of failed or stale state stores under Migration Status and it starts SMS executive service.
