Adding additional Data Disks to a Virtual Machine in Azure


On the virtual machine page, select the virtual machine in which you would like to add additional disk and Click Attach -> Attach Empty disk in the bottom navigation bar.

Enter the FILE NAME ,Size(GB) of disk and Host Cache Preference and then Click Checkmark button.

FILE NAME : AD01-Data01

SIZE(GB) :20

HOST CACHE PREFERENCE : NONE

Now Login into the Virtual machine and open Server Manager Tool. Select Computer management under Tools menu

Click on the Disk Management and you will be prompted to initial disk and Click ok

Right click on Disk 2 and select New Simple Volume.

Accept all default values and click Next.

Click next and Finish button on the last page.

New Volume(E:) has been created after the formatting process.
